Is an All-Inclusive Estancia in Argentina Worth It?

October 6, 2026 · 5 min read

An all-inclusive estancia costs more than a hotel and a rental car. Whether it is worth it depends on what you value most: access, time, or the freedom not to plan anything at all.

What you are really paying for

Access. Much of what makes an estancia special is private: land, water and landscapes that are not open to the public. At Arroyo Pescado, that means 12,000 hectares of private land near Esquel and 23 kilometres of private trout water.

Time. Transfers, meals, guides, horses and activities are arranged before you arrive. The hours you would spend organizing each day are spent outdoors instead.

People. Guides, hosts and cooks who know the land well, and who plan each day around the weather, the season and your interests.

Simplicity. Meals, wine and drinks are part of the stay. Beyond a few clearly listed extras, there is little to calculate once you are there.

What it costs

For the 2026–2027 season, Arroyo Pescado's leisure program starts from USD 790 and the fishing program from USD 912 per person, per night, depending on season and room type, with a minimum stay of three nights. Both include full board, all beverages, bilingual assistance, transfers from Esquel Airport and trekking on the estancia; the leisure program adds horseback riding and one guided activity per day. The full list is in what's included.

When it is worth it

  • You want private water or land that cannot be booked any other way
  • You are travelling as a family or a group of friends and want one place that works for everyone
  • You have a short window and want every day to count
  • You would rather not drive long distances in a region you do not know

When it may not be

If you prefer to move every day, explore towns independently or travel on a tight budget, a road trip with hotels may suit you better. An estancia rewards those who slow down and stay a few days in one place.

A small house, by design

Arroyo Pescado's new lodge has six private en-suite rooms for a maximum of twelve guests, and can be reserved for exclusive use. It opens in February 2027 with a special program for the annular solar eclipse, and welcomes guests from March 1, 2027.
